2003 Suzuki VS 1400 GLP Intruder

Owner: M Centano,
Crystal Lake, Illinois USA

Comments: ”This is my favorite picture. This bike was purchased new in August of '03. I have not made any modifications nor do I intend. She has 3,998 miles on her (6,434 kilometers) as of August of '05. I find the Intruder 1400 to be a well balanced machine, ample power and comfortable ride.”

1994 Suzuki VS 800 Intruder

Owner: Ruben Gamez,
Mexico City, Mexico

Comments: ”I have recently bought my Intruder, I'm very happy to ride it. It is a new experience to me, instead my previous sport bike, this is more confortable and the thing I like about it is that this bike is more suitable for a little ride in this big City of Mexico than a sports bike you want to feel the speed with.”

2005 Suzuki S 83 Boulevard

Owner: Lenny Girlando, USA

Comments: ”This is my new S83 2005 Boulevard. Just got it about 3 weeks ago. It replaced the 1400 Intruder.

Still putting more chrome on it. It is all original, apart from the handlebars, the back rest and a decent seat.

It has a lot of guts off the line and can pull you out of a traffic jam in 5th gear with no problem.”

”I have lost count of the motorcycles I have owned since starting riding in 1975. I have however seemed to always end up back on Suzukis. I have never had an "off" on the road, but had some close calls! (A few racetrack falls though)

Like slipstreaming my mate, he was on RD400 Yami, with chambers etc, I was on my GS400B. We were returning home from a day of watching motorcycle racing at Pukekohe Race Circuit, so obviously thought we were World champs!

At about 170kph, when the RD was falling off the pipe, I slipped out of the stream to pass when, Wham! Darkness in the afternoon daylight! My Mates yellow PVC raincoat had come unravelled and escaped the confines of it's bungee cord! I had to try and remember if we were just coming up to a corner, or just entering a straight, but either way I sat up, partly to add air brake affect and partly to allow the raincoat to get blown off me. Thankfully the coat slipped down to my lap and I was at the beginning of a long straight! My mate road off ahead, oblivious to the near heart attack he had given me.

I should have kept the coat (I needed one), but I gave it back to him when I caught up.” |

1991 Suzuki
VX 800

Owner: Murray Cliff,
Tauranga, New Zealand

Comments: ”I have a VX800 Sport Tourer. I have always liked the look and practicality of these bikes, since I saw a photo of one back in 1992. I bought mine off a direct importer who brought it in from Japan as a "writeoff " 12 months ago.

It had only minor damage, But it ran like a sack off rotting potatoes due to airbox baffles having been removed! Goes like stink (fast) now!

I had to replace the front disc and caliper, I replaced the rear disc as well. The clutch was worn, so I replaced the plates and springs.

Only complaint I could have really, is the high 1st gear and short takeup of the clutch.

Put new tyres on, touched up the frame paint (had been sitting a while) and a few other minor jobs.

I have to say I really enjoy this bike! I'm known for my "push on" riding style and the speed I can get from "point to point" on the VX is quite astounding! The same mate who tried to kill me all those years ago (read the story on the left) still rides with me (he now has an XJR1200 Yammi) and he can't get close to me in the "twisties".

The VX handles 2-up riding with no problem. In fact, the last passenger commented that it was the most comfortable and pleasant bike she had been on! Not only did we nearly ground everything several times, but she even went to sleep (!) only to wake up when our helmets bashed together when slowing abruptly, for a fuel stop.

I also find the economy excellent, despite the tank only being 18ltrs.

All in all, a very capable bike. I also feel it could easily handle a jetting and pipe job? It feels like there's more power there for the asking? It has however lofted the front wheel on occasion, even in standard trim (without clutch assistance) when accelerating out of uphill corners!

I have fitted a small "Givi" screen to break the wind effect and a pack frame to carry luggage when touring.”

1989 Suzuki GSX-R 750 R
1993 RGV 250

Owner: Hans, Belgium

Comments: ”I have two Suzukis, a RGV250 and a GSX-R750RK.

The GSX-R750R , 40,000 km on it, was built in 1989. Only 1,000 were made, only 24 were imported in Belgium. The retail price was 11,500 euros in 1989. It has been in my possession since 2000.

It's got a solo seat , an alloy tank, flat side carbs, 120 hp engine and close-ratio gears (very long first gear - 120 km/h).

Nice bike to ride , also the sound. I will never sell it!

The RGV250, 14.000 km, was built in 1993. It's got a complete Arrow exhaust system and polished wheels, the rest is original.

It has been
in my possesion since 2002. Nice to ride, nice to smell! Also never for sale. My next dream : a blue-white RG500 (1985-1986).”

1981 Suzuki GS 100 0G

Owner: Vincent Doyle, Manchester, England

Comments: ”I am now the proud owner of my first Suzuki. It previously belonged to my boss but since he only managed 300 miles in 3.5 years it became obvious it was wasted. He then knowing I had a bit of a thing for bikes asked if I would like to use it as he could also do with the garage space, a cunning ploy eh? Yep, I stepped right in and fell for it, three months and 250 miles later we did a deal, £1000 including his helmet, gloves and wet weather suit. Who said being average was a disadvantage?

The bike seems original, apart from the exhaust and a busted seat trim. She rides well once you get used to the brakes (bit different to my mates Thundercat) even seems sure footed but this isn't the time of year to push it; though I know that isn't what this baby is about.

At the moment there is a trace of oil showing around the cylinder head, she gargles a bit around 6,000 revs and last time I rode her in the rain she one cylinder decided to take a rest. Other than that there is a bit of cosmetic work to do.

She has done over 40,000 miles (about 64000 km). Just a little amendment, took her out for a blast and it seems to have cleared her lungs but I will have to sort that head out (me and her tonight-photo). ”
