1981 Suzuki GS 850 G

Owner: Jeff Stewart

Comments: ”I bought my GS850 three years ago on Ebay. I am the third owner, and my original plan was to ride it for about a year then buy a Harley-Davidson (it had been 20 years since I owned a bike). Anyway, the first year came and went, then the second, then the third.

The 850 is still going strong (approx. 66,000 miles now) and I enjoy riding it so much I decided the hell with the Harley! It was originally metallic brown with gold pinstripes. Last year I stripped off all the paint and repainted it black, and added the flame graphics. I also added the trunk you see in the picture (also off Ebay). ”

1981 Suzuki GS 550 T

Owner: Leonardo Omar,
Rawson-Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina

Comments: ”My baby is a Suzuki GS550T of 1981. I have owned it for four years.

What do I think of my bike? Good, initially tube problems with the starter, and the carburetor. But solve it, and now it takes to me to all sides my boldface. It is excellent for the city, and in the route it flies rasante.

Pardon for my English...”

1980 Suzuki GS 1000 G

Owner: Bernard van Arkel, Benoni, Gauteng Provence in South Africa

Comments: ”I am a very proud owner of a 1982 GS1000G (customised shaftie).  I bought my bike in 1987, second hand and still own it today.
At present the mileage is 33,500 kilometers on the clock. Yes my bike has been customised but not mechanically. The motor has never been opened. The changes made are as follows.
  • Air filter removed & K & N filters put on.
  • 4 into 1 exhaust headers.
  • Custom can.
  • Bikini fairing and belly pan.
  • Custom spray job.
  • Low profile rear tyre.
With the slight mods done the increase in power on the bike is about 20%. I am extremely happy with my bike model. I have a lot of power on hand and can run with a lot of the "super bikes" through the gears. Top end they run away from me but at cruising speeds I have a more comfortable ride.

I feel that it is possibly the finest bike Suzuki ever made. That is of the older model bikes. Currently classified as "Classics". I will never sell my bike but am currently looking to by a 1600cc Marauder of 1400cc Intruder (Boulevard). I am attaching a couple of pictures of my bike. I hope you are able to view them

Keep up the good work on your site. It is the finest and most comprehensive Suzuki data base available. A lot of the pictures and models brings back fond memories of my younger days. I am currently 53 years old and still cruising.”

1979 Suzuki GS 850 G

Owner: Keith Markham,
Broomfield, Colorado, USA

Comments: ” Here is a picture of my winter project. It's a 1979 GS850G that I am modifying.  I don't have much for money so allot of ingenuity is the main thing going into the bike. I got it from a friend in December 2002 and its just been sitting on the side of my house until recently. He received it from his uncle 10 years prior, and never did anything with it. The last time it was plated was in 1986 in Michigan USA when it was abandoned in the garage of a house that the bank repossessed.

I started messing with it in the summer of 2003 and found 4 broken wires in the left controls, I soldered them back together, rebuilt the carbs and had it running, but the brakes were seized so unfortunately I didn't have a chance to ride it.

It came from the factory with the Vetter (wind jammer) fairing and hard case saddle bags. I got it with 46,000 miles on the odometer. No smoke, so I think I can get a couple of riding seasons before having to do at least the top end.

Besides the sheetmetal work it has a tank from a '00 GSX600 Katana and the seats are from a '92 Katana. The cardboard you see in the picture is eventually going to be sheetmetal. I am having a hard time figuring out what color to paint it. and will update you with pictures of the progress. ”

1980 Suzuki GS 550 E

Owner: Jeff Stanley,
Memphis, Tennessee, USA

Comments: ”I really like you're site. It's really great to see the various bikes and how they differ from the U.S.A models.

I would like to submit My humble 1980 GS550ET.It had 17,000 miles on it when I purchased it in October 2005.

The only major upgrades were the 1/4 fairing, "superbike" bars and the custom paint.

I commute almost every day to work on it. Not too heavy in town. Not so light that you get blown off the freeway either. It's a great all-around bike.”
