Suzuki GSX 1100 F Katana

Owner: Robert Barnhart,
Columbia, MO. USA

Comments: I love my Kat. Most people tell me it must be
nice to own a NEW bike, some say it looks like new styling. I
love it when I get to tell them it is 12 years old.

The bike it self as a stock bike is impressive. I am getting ready
to install a Factory stage 1 kit and give it a much needed tune
(not that it runs bad now).

I have
put Pirelli Dragon GT Radials on it (have not ridden Kat since
I put them on). I have replaced the stock grips with some gel
grips.
Eventually I will get the wind screen darkened, exhaust
ceramic coated, body work painted. I am thinking of raising the
handle bars and maybe put a Corbin seat on it.

I think that adding a sixth gear would help the Kat in more ways
than one, 1st: better gas mileage, 2nd: smoother ride on the highway,
3rd: and top speed of course (but who goes faster than 70mph anyway).

I would like for Suzuki to bring the 1100 Katana back, that means
the styling of a sport tourer. I do not really care for the Hyabusa.
Note: The GSX1100F was called Katana only
in North-America.

Suzuki GT 550 K
Owner: Henrik Jansson, Åland Finland

Comments: I have stripped down and started to renovate my
GT550K. I have painted it in original lime-green, replaced many
parts, polished all engine covers etc. I plan to have finisghed
the renovation next spring. I will send a new picture then. The
photo here was taken in 1989 and its not in original shape. It
has Micron trim exhaust system and 32 mm Mikuni carburetor. I
bought it in 1985.

1985
Suzuki GS 1150 E
Owner: Erston
Reisch, USA

Comments: My GS1150E was not exactly stock. Someone had
used it as a weekend dragbike project before reforming it for
street use. It had an 1168 cc motor (which was actually a GS1100
motor overbored... Someone took the GS1150 motor for a drag
bike, I assume), Mikuni smoothbore carbs, and a 4 into 1 megaphone
exhaust (Vance and Hines). It would wheelie in 3rd without using
the clutch, and was downright scary if you didn't treat it properly.

I
only had my GS1150E for six months or so. Figured out that I
didn't like a chain final drive. I bought a GSX1100G, then after
a deer-hit another GSX1100G... I went from a Honda Silverwing
(GL500I, had the same motor as the CX500) to the GS and
it scared the hell out of me... Selling it and buying the easier-to-ride
GSX1100G was a good decision on my part. Now I'm riding a Guzzi
too, which is even more tame in power. Hmm, after a few more
slower bikes, I might be ready for a Harley...

Suzuki GS 450 L

Owner: Andrzeejewski Franek, Belgium

Comments: Bike is of the year 1981
Suzuki GS450L. 44,500 km
I have asked Franek for more info and owner's
comments but he didn't reply.
Here's another picture of Franek's bike.

1996
Suzuki GSF 750 Bandit

Owner: Martin Wilson

Comments: You've not got the Suzuki GSF750 Bandit in your
list at all. Not too surprising as it was a Japanese market only
bike! I've attached a small pic of mine. As you've said it was
a 77hp model.
You wouldn't believe how many visitors find it surprising
or even chocking that I haven't had the opportunity
to create a separate page for their favorite model yet...

Suzuki GT 185
Owner: Chas Everest, Raleigh NC USA

Purchase year: 2000

Comments: New Mitaka racing pistons and re-bore. Has not
been re-painted or anything completely standard and like new.
Fast and and reliable. Pulls very nice wheelies without having
to use the
clutch.

1997
Suzuki GSX 600 F

Owner: Eric White, Durham England

Mods: None. Original paint-work.
Comments: The motorcycle is a good ride easy to control
on the open roads, it has never broken down with good build qualities.
Always looks well, with good looks, it is reasonably economical
to insure compared with other 600cc bikes and was good value for
money when purchased new. Accessories i.e. racks, handlebar height
adjusters, are difficult to obtain.

1998
Suzuki AY 50 WRW

Owner: Eric White, Durham England

Comments: At one time I altered the variators to increase
the speed, now the scooter has been put back to its original specification.
The scooter is reliable, I have rebuilt the engine after 10,000
miles the big end had collapsed on the crankshaft. Very easy to
work on and maintain. Non-Suzuki parts are difficult to obtain,
I have a particular complaint about having to purchase a full
new automatic clutch assembly (£75) when all that was needed
was a set of wear pads for the clutch shoes. Easy to ride, good
for town/city riding and it's great fun.
