Suzuki GSX-R1000
2026–

I have tried to tell the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 model history on this page as I know it. I would be grateful of any contributions — sales brochures, magazine ads, magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send them to me. Please tell me the source and the publication date if possible. If you send me pictures of your own bike, please follow these instructions.

2026 GSX-R1000 40th Anniversary Edition

The Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Editions, with 40th anniversary graphics and emblems applied to the vehicle’s sides, top of the fuel tank, and key mascot, presented by Suzuki at the end of July 2025. Both versions of the GSX-R1000 were offered in three different liveries: Pearl Vigor Blue / Pearl Tech White, Candy Daring Red / Pearl Tech White and Pearl Ignite Yellow / Metallic Mat Stellar Blue.

Of these three options, the Blue/White and Yellow/Blue liveries of the GSX-R1000 along with the Blue/White and Red/White liveries of the GSX-R1000R were exported to the USA. In Europe, all three colors were sold in some countries, among them the United Kingdom and Germany.

Not only the colors were new. A number of updates were made to the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R.

The shapes of internal engine components such as injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, valves, pistons, and crankshafts were redesigned to meet strict emissions and noise regulations while maintaining high performance and enhancing durability. The maximum valve lift remains unchanged, but the lift curve has been modified to reduce camshaft overlap. The cam chain width was increased for better endurance.

The shape of the exhaust system and the arrangement of catalytic converters have been revised to balance emissions compliance with high output performance. The new layout also results in a slimmer, more stylish muffler body design.

Carbon fiber winglets on the front cowl, the same type used on the “Team Suzuki CN Challenge” bike at the 2024 Suzuka 8 Hours, was now offered as standard equipment in some regions and accessories on others. These winglets generate downforce to suppress front lift during corner exits, enabling smoother acceleration.

Anti-lift control was added to the S.I.R.S. (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System) to suppress front wheel lift during acceleration, supporting smoother acceleration. Roll Torque control uses an IMU and wheel speed sensors to detect vehicle posture and speed, controlling rear-wheel power and torque based on the bike’s bank angle and wheel rotation. This system optimizes acceleration out of corners. Traction control, Anti-lift control, and Roll Torque control operate in coordination as the “Smart TLR System.”

A lightweight and compact lithium-ion battery, made by ELIIY Power, was now equipped with the GSX-R1000 models.

2026 Suzuki GSX-R1000 40th Anniversary Edition colors: Pearl Vigor Blue / Pearl Tech White (C6F), Candy Daring Red / Pearl Tech White (C7Q) and Pearl Ignite Yellow / Metallic Mat Stellar Blue (C7P).

Of these three options, the Blue/White and Yellow/Blue liveries of the GSX-R1000 along with the Blue/White were exported to the USA.

Euro 5+ complient

The big news is that the revised version with changes that promise not only to improve its racing potential but will also bring it into line with stricter emissions rules. The Suzuki GSX-R1000 is available for the 2026 model year and is Euro 5+ compliant, thanks to significant updates to the engine, exhaust, and electronics, including new O2 sensors, optimized camshaft timing, a more efficient catalytic converter, and revised intake components.

n Europe, GSX-R1000 was discontinued at the end of 2022 rather than revising it to meet the then-new Euro 5 limits, but with the revised GSX-R1000 it’s heading back to the European market, thanks to engine mods that bring it into line not only with the Euro 5 limits that eliminated it back in 2022 but the Euro 5+ rules introduced since then.

In the USA, where the GSX-R1000 has been available, it saddled with a reduced power peak, down from the 199 hp enjoyed elsewhere to 185 hp thanks to mapping that cuts the performance beyond 11,000 rpm.
