Suzuki TS50 / Hustler 50

I have tried to tell the Suzuki TS50 / Hustler 50 model history on this page as I know it. The page is still under construction. I would be grateful of any contributions — sales brochures, magazine ads, magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send them to me. Suzuki TS50 (Hustler 50 in Japan), the smallest displacement model of the Hustler series, was introduced in 1971 and was manufactured virtually unchanged by Suzuki until 1978. The following upgraded models were Suzuki TS50ER (1979–1983) and Suzuki TS50X (1984 on). There were a number of different versions of the TS50 sold around the globe, due to the differences in legislation converning 50cc bikes. In many European countries, for instance, the small bikes were power restricted and sometimes even weight restricted, so that youngsters could ride their bikes without a license. I have split this model history in two pages. The first one is for the early models (1971—1982) and the second page is for the later ones (1983—2000). The early export and domestic (Japan) models were fairly similar, but the later ones were not; the main difference being the engine —the domestic model had liquid-cooled engines and six-speed transmissions, while the export model were air-cooled and had five speeds. I would love to show ALL the variations of the Suzki TS50 that were offered in different countries, but although there's tons of information available of their big brothers, I'm still looking for pictures and info of the model versions that were produced in smaller numbers to compail specific legislation of other requirements of a certain market. Quite different models were made for some countries, that also had somewhat different model names.

1971Suzuki year code: R

The Hustler 50 was released in January 1971 and was a one-type off-road trail that was lined up until the late 90's. Although the engine was consistently a 49cc 2-stroke engine, it was air-cooled at the time of its introduction, and became water-cooled in 1983 when the model was changed. The wheel size changed from 17 inches front and rear on the early model to 18 inches front/16 inches front and 19 inches front/17 inches rear, and from 1983 it became a 21 inches front/18 inches rear off-road "full size". rice field. The word hustler is not used in a very good sense (gambler). Suzuki often used words like 'Bandit' and 'Desperado' in its car names, which also didn't mean good things. In the 2010s, the “Hustler” car name was also used for light 4-wheel SUVs. The origin of the car name on the official website says, "This car is superimposed with the image of a person who actively tackles everything and acts with agility." Minor upgrades. The wheel size has been increased to 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. The Hustler 50 was now equipped with a tachometer. The Suzuki TS50 was now being sold in United Kingdom, with similar graphics as the Japan version but with many differences. In UK, the TS50 was available in Red, White and Blue.
