Suzuki TS125
1971
I have tried to tell the Suzuki TS 125 model history on this
page as I know it. The page is still under construction.
I would be grateful of any contributions sales brochures, magazine ads,
magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material
in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send
them to me. Please tell me the source and the publication date if possible.
If you send me pictures of your own bike, please follow these
instructions.

The
125cc 2-stroke 1-cylinder enduro bike TS-125 was introduced
for the Japanese home market in December 1970. It had 13 bhp,
five speeds and high-drawn exhaust pipe.
The TS-125 also had a sister model, a trail version called TC-125
(Prospector in USA) with dual-range gearbox with eight speeds,
luggage rack and higher mounted front mud guard that made the
bike more suitable for terrain. The TC trail series were built
from 90 to 250cc but the whole model series was discontinued in
the seventies. The TS series was more successfull and some TS
models are still being produced. |
1971Suzuki year code: R
Built like an enduro racer. 5-speed gearbox. Bead stoppers.
9.3" ground clearance. Long travel front forks. 5-way adjusteble
rear shocks. CCI automatic lube. Spark arrester. The Duster is
a bike that will do 70 mph, take a 34° hill. A bike that's
ready to take on competition. As is. The U-S. Suzuki advertisement
for the 1971 TS125R promises a lot. Perhaps it was a competitive
enduro racer in those days?
The Suzuki TS125
received a nickname ”Duster” in the USA but was called Hustler 125 in Japan.

1989 Suzuki year code: K
Suzuki TS125R was introduced for the 1989. It was developed based on the RM series, for both urban driving to rough road driving. The newly designed 2-cycle water-cooled single-cylinder engine uses a crankcase reed valve and AETC. A slingshot carburetor was also adopted to ensure high output and high torque over the entire rpm range.
In addition to the front and rear disc brakes, the suspension adopts a new link type full floater suspension at the rear. The form was inherited from the RM series, which enables smooth weight transfer, and the low center of gravity of the entire vehicle combine to provide excellent mobility.
