1997 Suzuki year code: V

Suzuki's Satria has been in production for years and has gone through several generations.
Launched in October 1997, the Satria 120S was built using the RG Sport 110 as its base. With an upright engine configuration, Suzuki equipped this motorbike with a 120 cc 2-stroke engine.
The Satria 120S engine could produce up to 13.5 hp at 8,000 rpm with a 5-speed semi-automatic transmission. At the time, most underbone motorcycles on the market used horizontally mounted engines. Apart from its powerful engine, another advantage of the Satria at that time was its braking system, which used disc brakes for the front and rear. Meanwhile, most underbone motorbikes at that time still used drum brakes for the rear brakes.
At the time, the Satria had the most distinctive appearance among underbone motorcycles in its class. Its chassis was boxy and the rear suspension used a monoshock. The Satria 120S was marketed until 1999.

1998 Suzuki year code: W

The Satria 120S wasn't very popular at the time. Fierce competition in the underbone motorcycle class prompted Suzuki to make improvements to the Satria.
In 1998, Suzuki finally launched the Satria 120R. It used the same jet-cooled 2-stroke engine. However, this bike now uses a 6-speed gearbox and manual clutch, and its power output is also up 0.5 hp from the 120S.
