I have tried to tell the SFV 400 Gladius model histories on this page as I know it. The page is still under construction. 2009 Suzuki year code: K9

Suzuki unveiled a 400cc ABS version of their funky Gladius at the Tokyo Motor Show in November 2009. The bike shared all the same components as the 650cc version and was primarily aimed at Japan's home market.

2010 Suzuki year code: L0

The Suzuki Gladius 400 shared the specifications and looks with its big brother, the Gladius 650 - apart from the engine sixe and performance. It was aimed for the Asian market, where smaller bikes were popular. In some countries no bikes with bigger engines were allowed on the roads. The liquid-cooled, dual throttle valve type fuel injected 90° V-twin enginewas equipped with ISC (Idle Speed Control) which improves startability and idling stability in cold weather. It was mounted in a a tubular trellis style frame more similar to the first generation of SV400/SV650. Only an ABS version was available. 2011 Suzuki year code: L1

The 2011 SFV400A Gladius was available in two colors: Blue/White and Silver/Black (new color). The 2011 model was released in late April 2011. There was no longer any ”ABS” decal on the front fender, the silver/grey frame cover behind the engine matched now the frame color, the foot rest bracket matched now the engine color, and the color of the grab bar behind the seat was changed to black. 2012 Suzuki year code: L2

The 2012-year's model of the Gladius 400 was released in the end of March 2012 with only cosmetic changes. The vintage type Chrome rear view mirrors were replaced with more modern styled Black mirrors. A new color option was the Pearl Mirage White / Glass Sparkle Black with a checker pattern decal on the fuel tank was added in April 2012. It replaced the Silver/Black color option from the previous year. 2015 Suzuki year code: L5

The next model version of the SFV400 Gladius was released in late October 2014 with new color schemes. The Gladius 400 was now available in Blue/White with black frame and blue wheels, Black/Matte Grey with red frame and black wheels, Blue/White with black frame and blue wheels and Black/Matte Black with black frame and black wheels. The handlebar color was changed to matte titanium silver. New type of ”S” emblem on the the fuel tank.
