Suzuki SMX50 Supermotard 1999—

I have tried to tellthe Suzuki RMX 50 and SMX 50 model histories on this page as I know them. This page is still under construction. The 50cc Dual Sport moped RMX50 was presented in 1995. It was designed and built in Spain by Suzuki Motor España. The RMX50 had 21 and 18-inch wheels and offroad tyres, a 49cc liquid-cooled 2-stroke engine, six gears and disc brakes front and rear. The power output may have varied, depending on the local regulations in each country the model was imported in. The named figure, 3,5 hp, comes from Norway, where the model was introduced in year 2000. The RMX50 was powered by the same Japanese engine as the RG Wolf (liquid-cooled and six speeds) but manufactured in Manzanares, Spain. The design of RMX is, obviously, inspired by RM motocross models but designed for two passengers.

A sister model for the RMX50, the SMX50 Supermotard (or simply Motard in some countries), was presented by the Suzuki Motor España in 1999. The SMX50 had street tyres and 17-inch wheels front and rear while the RMX50 had 21 and 18-inch wheels and offroad tyres. Apart from the wheels and the graphics, the models were the same.
