In 2006 the RM-Z450 became the first four stroke ever to win the AMA Supercross Championship. To celebrate our success Suzuki has created the 2007 RM-Z450 Ricky Carmichael Replica - complete with Team Makita Suzuki graphics and custom gold colored Rims.
Ricky Carmichael made the switch to the Factory Makita Suzuki team for the 2005 season. He once again controlled every series that season, winning both the AMA Supercross and Motocross championships, along with the U.S. Open of Supercross and the Motocross des Nations. The 2006 season marked Carmichael's last full year of motocross racing before stepping into semi, and then full, retirement. He once again won the AMA Supercross and Motocross championships, and again captained Team USA to another Motocross des Nations victory. The AMA recognized his achievements by naming him the Athlete of the Year for a record fifth time.
Carmichael went into semi-retirement in 2007, but was arguably still the fastest rider on the track in the races he entered, including winning all six overalls in the six AMA Motocross Championship races he entered.

2015 Suzuki year code: L5

Revised model.
When Suzuki released the 2005 RM-Z450 – its first four-stroke motocross machine – the bike went on a winning streak, taking four AMA Motocross and two AMA Supercross titles. Since its introduction, though, the RM-Z450 only received one major update. The update arrived in 2008 when the RM-Z450 became the first motocrosser to get fuel injection.
The new 2015 RM-Z450 had some new features and targeted improvements to provide stronger racing performance. With its new Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC) technology, RM-Z450 riders would have enhanced traction and less wheel slip on hard-packed or slippery conditions.
The Holeshot Assist Control is a selectable launch mode system derived straight from the factory race bike to help riders launch from the starting gate for an early lead.
Riders engage Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control from a button on the left-side handlebar, and can shut the system off. A Mode: For hard surfaces or less than ideal conditions at the starting gate, hold down the S-HAC switch for more than 0.7 second, B Mode:When there is better traction and a more aggressive launch is needed, hold down the S-HAC switch for more than 1.8 second. In either mode, Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control is programmed with specific commands that return ignition timing to normal operation and let riders power into and through the first turn.
The Showa SFF Air Fork is now standard on the 2015 RM-Z450, and delivers more progressive suspension feel and offers infinite adjustability in a package that's nearly 2.5 pounds lighter than the conventional spring fork. Adjustments to the SFF-Air fork can be made easily with use of a hand-held pump.
Suzuki engineers redesigned a number of components – including a longer kickstart lever, revised kick-gear ratios, updated de-compression system, a redesigned exhaust camshaft and more – to make the 2015 RM-Z450 easier to start, saving time and energy for riding.
The new RM-Z450 features a 16-percent more efficient cooling system, with fluids traveling more effectively between right and left radiator halves, plus an updated water-pump cover and revised hose connection directing coolant directly into the water-pump.
More improvements for 2015: Precision gear matching for improved shifting feel,
Revised exhaust muffler to meet strict AMA sound regulations, Redesigned frame members for a 4-percent weight reduction and balanced rigidity.
