| 1973 Suzuki Mini 50 dealer card from Japan (front page only). Click to
enlarge. I found this image on Ebay. The retail price for the '73 Suzuki M50 was 58,000 yen. According to Suzuki, its engine delivered 1.8 ps peak power at 5,000 rpm. Printed in Japan. |

The Super Mini 50 (1969) was designed with female users in mind, incorporating a light, bicycle-like feel and a gentle design with reduced power.
For users who found the increasingly high-powered and high-performance 50cc mopeds difficult to handle, this model could be said to be a return to the origins of the moped that caused a huge boom. It was equipped with an underbone frame that has been widened to make it easier to get on and off, and an engine with a low output of 1.8 hp.
It was easy to operate with an automatic centrifugal clutch and a seesaw type two-speed transmission. The vehicle weight was light at 45 kg, which was about half to two-thirds of the weight of other models that had increased in weight along with their performance.
The tire size was narrow at 2.00-17 front and rear, and it is equipped with practical equipment such as front and rear carriers, as well as a brightly patterned seat that is popular with women.
The name changed several times, from Mini 50 around 1973 to New Mini 50 in 1976, and back to Mini 50 in 1977, eventually leading to later models like the Soft Bike UD. It was surprisingly a long-selling model.

1973 Suzuki year code: K

The rider-friendly Super Mini 50 was developed with inspiration from the definition of a moped as a motorized bicycle. It combines a simple-to-operate automatic clutch with a 2-speed transmission that allows the rider to start off from top gear on flat roads. Both the handlebars and saddle height can be adjusted into the most comfortable riding position. A weight of only 45 kg makes the Super Mini 50 easy to ride, handle, and step on and off.

1978 Suzuki year code: C

Japanese sources tell that the M50 was discontinued in 1977 but the model was still available in some copuntries in 1978. I believe the bikes were manufactured earlier and could be counted as surplus.
The recommended retail price in Japan for the last (1977) versiuon of the Mini 50 was 69,000 yen. That was actually 4,000 yen less than the year before.
