Motorcycle manufacturers in Japan have often imitated each other. A couple years after Honda released its CF50 ”Chali” in 1972 and Yamaha a similar LB50 ”Chappy” in 1973), Suzuki released the Landie 50, a similar model. The target group for this little scooterette was women.
Its air-cooled, two-stroke, piston reed valve, single-cylinder engine was available in an automatic centrifugal clutch, 3-speed transmission, and a fully automatic version. Minor changes were made during its model history, such as changing the position of the headlight, and launching the Landy 55, a class 2 moped, in 1981.
The sligtly more powerful version, Landy 55, was discontinued in 1984, but he 50cc model continued being made a few more years, being available until 1995. |

1976 Suzuki year code: A

Suzuki Landie was released in 1976 and was a family bike that was available until the early 1990s. The underbone frame and the low seat height (690mm) made it easy to get on and off, and the 10-inch small-diameter wheels made it easy to handle. In addition to the initial type automatic centrifugal clutch 3-speed transmission, there were 4-speed manual transmission and automatic transmission models. The Landie was equipped with an air-cooled 2-stroke single-cylinder engine.
