1978 Suzuki year code: C

Suzuki GP125 was launched on the Japanese home market in March 1978. It was a low cost, economy version of the GT125/RG125 single two-stroke motorbike.
The model name GP was apparently adopted from racing world (Grand
Prix). The GP125 actually shared something with the
1976/1977 Suzuki RG500 works racer – both models had the same bore and stroke dimensions.

The
biggest difference between the 1978 RG125/GT125 and the GP125
was that the RG had a twin engine with piston reed valves while
the GP a single cylinder engine with rotary disk valves. Suzuki
Motor Company continued to build the model couple of years into
the 1980s, perhaps even longer for export to New Zealand.
