| I
have tried to tell the story of the Suzuki GSX-R 600 as I know it.
I would be grateful of any contributions sales brochures, magazine ads,
magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material
in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send
them to me. Please tell me the source and the publication date if possible.
If you send me pictures of your own bike, please follow these
instructions.

| I don't have much information of the early GSX-R600 models. Please help me by sending brochure and magazine article scans or any kind of information! |

The Suzuki GSX-R600 was launched in 1992. It was Suzuki's first real attempt at a modern supersports 600-class machine and it was an instans success. It looked virtually identical to the GSX-R750, and had the same body specifications as the '92 GSX-R 750W, it just had a smaller 599cc engine. In other words, it wasn't as quick than its big brother.
The GSX-R600 engine
and chassis were rather conventional – a 16-valve liquid cooled inline-four, mounted in a aluminium box frame with a full race-style fairing. It had conventional telescopic forks, a way to tell it from its 750 cc sibling.
The first GSX-R600 had very focused, sporting performance. The engine was powerful, but had to be revved constantly. The sharp steering chassis was its best on the track and its high footpegs and cramped ridning position didn't make it a comfortable touring bike.
Not many bikes have survived. Not that many were produced and some of them were destroyed at race track. Only a few are been well kept by owners.

The bikes in the pictures above are not 100% original; the first one has a tank bra (cover) mounted and the second bike has been modified in several ways. |

New graphics.

One of the few Suzukis I've ever seen with red wheels. The bike on the picture is 100% original California model, purchased new just minutes before the picture was taken.
