Suzuki Super Free 80 / U80
1969

I have tried to tell the model history of the Super Free 50 / U80 on this page as I know it. This page is still under construction. I would be grateful of any contributions — sales brochures, magazine ads, magazine articles, pictures, specs, facts, corrections etc. Please scan the material in JPEG format (large enough that all the details are visible) and send them to me. Please tell me the source and the publication date if possible. If you send me pictures of your own bike, please follow these instructions.

1969 Suzuki Super Free 80 was a very short-lived model.
.

The Suzuki Super Free 80 (U80) was a short-lived model that replaced the U70 model in 1969, the main differences being that the Super Free 80 engine had slightly larger cubic capacity, giving it slightly more torque, the peak pwer remaining the same. By increasing the U70 engine's cylinder diameter by 2 mm (0.079 in) it grew from 69 to 76 cc. The 2-stroke 1-cylinder was also equipped with a rotary valve making it stronger at low revs.

The Super Free 80 had 3-speed transmission with a centrifugal clutch, allowing to start the ride simply by opening the throttle. It also features an automatic negative pressure fuel cock that shuts off when the engine is stopped, to prevent fuel overflow from the carburetor, which was a common concern of the time.

By glance, you could also see that that U70 had tandem seat, while the Super Free 80 had chrome-plated baggage carriers front and back.
