1991 Suzuki DR 350 S and Honda XR 250 R comparison test from
Sweden (4 pages). Click to enlarge.
The test was made in Finland during three days, one of the test
riders being the Finnish champion in the four-stroke class.
He finds the Suzuki engine a bit tricky to start but strong
even at low revs, although it died a few times when riding at
very low revs. The Honda needed more revs. The Suzuki was a
bit too heavy, feeling like a 500cc bike. The suspension was
OK but could be improved. The test team mounted a Showa front
fork and Öhlins rear shock on the bike and noticed a big
difference to the better. Steady and smooth, even out
on the cross track. Also the flashers, speedo and other
unnecessary details were removed from the test bike to make
it lighter. The mufflers had been replaced to lighter ones on
both machines. Both bikes were good trail bikes, even for demanding
riders if you prepared them for competition riding, the
test riders concluded.

The article was published in the Swedish Super Bike magazine
in May 1991. Still, according to the other pictures I have seen,
I believe it's not a 1991 but the previous year's model. The
bike on the pictures has 1990-year's graphics.
