Suzuki DR200 Trojan

I have tried to tell the DR 200 SE model history on this page as I know it. This page is still under construction. The Suzuki DR200 Trojan is a tough and durable bike. It is based on the DR200 which has been around since mid-eighties. The Trojan is specifically a farm bike, with extra protection of the lights, the levers and the engine. It's not fast and sporty, the goal with creating this bike was to make a sturdy and reliable agricultural bike, used in rough enviroment. It was first introduced in 2005 for the Australian market, as a K6 model. The first DR200 Trojan models were road legal. When the exhaust emission standards evolved in aim to reduce to reduce the levels of harmful exhaust emissions, Suzuki decided not to modernize the simple and reliable DR200 engine. Therefore, from the 2017 L7 model the Trojan was no longer a road registerable. The mirrors, the turn indicators and the passenger foot pegs were stripped from the model. Still, it had a (large) headlight and tail light for night work.

Designed and tested for the farmers in Australia and in New Zealand, the Trojan celebrated 20 years of sales success in 2015. With most of the research and development work carried out in rural areas it was no surprise that many of the outstanding features found on the Trojan continued to be well suited to their unique farming conditions. Close to 12,500 units had been retailed since its introduction in Australia and the Trojan had often claimed the title of Australias No. 1 selling Farm Bike. Suzuki advertisers wrote: ”Built in Japan, the Trojan has a quality of finish second to none. The oil cooled four-stroke motor is whisper quiet and very economical with low gearing that enables the rider to easily follow stock and remain in control.  In the event the bike does fall over, the large oversize handle bar protectors and headlight guard are designed to protect vulnerable items.” And more: ” The large Quartz halogen headlight is probably the most important item you will notice if an early start is part of your daily routine and if you do spend a lot of time in the saddle the Trojan's single shock rear suspension and long wheel travel has some real world benefits.  Add to this electric starting with backup kick starter and a large comfortable seat that accommodates most shapes and sizes and suddenly the Trojan is looking especially well-suited to on-farm duties.”

The Suzuki DR200 Trojan is based on the DR200 which has been around since mid-eighties. The Trojan is specifically a farm bike and is not road legal. Still, it had headlight and tail light for night work. It's a working man's bike. There's no foot pegs for a passenger. The Suzuki Trojan features a clutch lock that allows you to leave the bike in gear and jump off when mustering (gathering livestock), electric and kick starter and a low maintenance, long-life sealed chain. It also has side stands on both sides of the bike, generous luggage racks front and rear and bars that protect front and rear lightning. It also has alloy hand guards and backward folding gearshift and brake pedals, to help reduce damage on the way of obstructions. The bottom of the engine is protected by a guard bar and a steel plate. The extra long mud flaps and the chain guard protect against dirt. The DR200 Trojan is a tough and durable bike. The gutsy 199cc powerplant dates back more than 20 years. It’s not a powerful engine and still carbureted rather than fuel injected, hence easily tuneable for more performance but not as enviroment friendly as modern engines. It has an efficient oil cooler. The fuel tank capacity is 13 liters. Color options: Solid Special White No.2 (30H) and Solid Black (019).
