Suzuki Vector was a city commuter bike that made its debut in its home land, Japan, in late 1994. It had a completely new vehicle body and components. It came in two different variants, AN125 with a 125cc and AN150 with a 150cc engine. It was equipped with a water-resistant front luggage space, an under-seat storage with interior light and a rear carrier.
In its home land, Japan, the model was marketed as Suzuki Vecstar 150. A bike with a 150cc engine was not that popular in many countries around the world, but it was exported to some countries starting 1996, among them Italy. The export model was marketed as Suzuki AN150.
The Vecstar 150 was continued to be sold until 2008, undergoing minor color and specification changes along the way. |

1995 Suzuki year code: S

Following the debut of the Vecstar 125 in July 1994, the more powerful Vecstar 150 was released in October of the same year as a 1995-year's model.
The AN150 Vecstar was equipped with a newly designed 150cc air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine.
It was based on Vecstar 125 engine. Increasing the Vecstar 125 engine's bore from 52 to 57 mm made the cylinder capacity 149cc instead of 124cc.
Body composition and basic equipment are the same as 125, such as a rigid authentic hydraulic telescopic fork, a 180 mm disc brake at the front, a lighted personal space below the seat.
Designed specifically to save fuel, this engine is paired with a 8-liter fuel tank for long distance rides.
A scooter with an engine displacement of 150 cc is classified as a standard motorcycle in Japan, which allows it to be used for a wide range of applications, from city streets to long-distance rides on expressways and other limited-access highways.

The Vecstar 150 power unit employed a SOHC 2-valve air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine, producing a maximum output of 13 horsepower at 7,500 rpm. The dry weight was 103 kg and the fuel efficiency was 45 km per liter. The fuel tank had a large 8 liter capacity, allowing for a long cruising range with fewer refueling stops.
The suspension featured a telescopic fork and 10-inch wheels with disc brakes at the front. The rear had a unit swingarm and drum brakes, similar to a typical scooter.
In terms of practical equipment, while the smaller Vecstar 125 had a resin rear carrier integrated with the rear spoiler. The Vecstar 150 featured a larger, more robust pipe-frame carrier.
After its debut, the first minor change occurred in 1996, increasing the engine displacement to 152cc by increasing the bore by 0.5 mm. Accordning to the specifications provided by the manufacturer, the engin performance figures remained unchaged but the fuel economoly improved a little. The official specs for the bike told that one could get 45.8 km with one liter of gasoline, when riding at 60 km/h. That's 0.8 km longer thanwith the older engine.

Very few changes were made for the Vecstar 150 after the 1996 increase of the cylinder displacement to 152cc. Suzuki continued minor color and utility changes (such as convenience hooks and kick-lever options) through 2000 and 2001 while keeping the 4-stroke engine compliant with the era's emerging low-emission standards.
A Spanish sales brochure showed the color options Flash Silver Metallic (Y2D) and Dark Space Blue Metallic (Y7H). |
