A Reader's Comment:

In my
youth, I had a '67 TC200. It is a nice machine and I was very
happy with it, however, it had one minor, but fatal flaw. The
tools are provided in a cheap cloth bag stored inside the left
side cover, directly above the chain. The problem is that if the
bag deteriorates unnoticed, and a tool should fall out, it can
get caught on the chain therby ripping open the crankcase. I know
because that is exactly what happened to mine.

I couldn't afford to repair it, and sold it for $50 for parts.
I heard later the guy just happened to be a heliarc welder, and
had managed to weld the case shut with the result being a perfectly
good motorcycle at a bargain price.
