In March 2023, Suzuki launched a new scooter model in Taiwan, the Sui 125, that's design is said to be inspired by the Japanese ”K-cars”, the square and practical small cars that are popular in Japan. While the Saluto 125, also sold in Taiwan, offers modern technical solutions like keyless ignition, LED lightning and LCD instrument, the Sui has traditional analogue meters halogen bulbs, only the rear blinkers are LED. The brakes are front discs and rear drums, no CBS, or ABS. SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) is Suzuki’s latest development for their 2-wheeler motors with reduced emissions, high fuel efficiency and good acceleration. It does that by efficient designing of engine components and minimizing mechanical losses. Both models use the same engine but are tuned differently. The engine of the Sui 125 is a SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) air-cooled single-cylinder 2V four-stroke engine with a displacement of 124cc with the characteristics of low wear and low resistance. Compared with Saluto, the power output of the Sui has been adjusted. The output is slightly reduced to 8.84 hp peak power at 7,000 rpm 0.98 kg-m peak torque at 6,000 rpm, for emphasis on smooth riding, and dual throttle cables to improve safety. The average fuel consumption was measured to 46.8 km/liter. With a fuel tank capacity of 5.5 liters that would give the Sui 125 a fuel range of 257 km (160 miles). The Sui 125 engine has an electric starter, but there's also a hole to stick in an (optional) emergency kick starter, if ever needed. The origin of the name of Suzuki Sui is supposed to be taken from the initials of "Suzuki Urban Icon". The name is also combined with the most well-known Taiwanese pronunciation "water" and taken from the meaning of "beautiful, good-looking". As already mentioned, the exterior design is inherited from the concept of Japanese K-Car light vehicles, and more square elements are used in it, whether it is headlights, taillights or direction lights. group, even the rearview mirrors and body lines. The length x width x height of the Sui 125 is 1,815 x 690 x 1,105mm, the wheelbase is 1,250mm, the seat height of the original design is only 750mm, and the weight is 113kg, which makes it easier to drive even for short riders. The flat, wide and thick (700mm long and 360mm wide) seat cushion design provides an comfortable seating space. The flat compartment space under the seat can easily accommodate a safety helmet, and there is still room for more daily necessities. There's also a 600cc compartment space at the front. Sui has traditional suspension with a front fork and twin shocks (three-stage adjustable) at the rear, a single 200 mm brake disc at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The tire size is 100/90-10 front and rear.
