Suzuki revealed a new concept bike named Recursion (”Repeated, looping”) at the 43rd Tokyo Motorshow in November 2013. It came with a 588cc parallel twin engine with intercooler turbo. It was not the first turbocharged motorcycle Suzuki had produced. The Suzuki XN85 was released some 30 years earlier, in early 1983.

"The Recursion compact roadster has a styling that gives form to the love of motorcycles, while striking a balance between the running performance of a large displacement motorcycle and the easy handling and economy of a middle displacement motorcycle," stated Suzuki at the time. The company goes on to use words like "easy handling," "torquey," "economy" and "exhilarating" to describe the bike.

It is said that Suzuki had a goal of achieving 100ps with a lightweight turbo engine. The 588cc cylinder displacement was selected based on its attractiveness as a show model and its practicality. Fuel efficiency is said to improve by about 50% compared to a liter bike that generates the same horsepower.

As planned, the Suzuki Recursion deliveres 100 ps (74 kW) at 8,000 rpm and impressive 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) of torque at 4,500 rpm with a broad torquey power delivery. This is the torque of a much larger bike, given across a three times wider band and packaged into a light middleweight. The Recursion's turbo engine generates plenty of torque from low rpm, and it will grow beautifully from low speed to high speed. Unlike an usual high-revving 600cc sportbike, Recursion delivers at least 3,500 rpm of hefty, no-shifting-needed torque. In comparison, a GSX-R600 developed only 51 lb.-ft. at a sky-high 11,500 rpm.

The Recursion has a lightweight and compact body with an aluminium twin spar type main frame, cantilever (one-sided) aluminium swigarm and carbon A monocoque rear frame. The wheelbase of the Recursion is 1,450 mm (57.1 in), 10 mm (0.4 in) shorter than GSR750. The fuel tank is made of aluminium. The dry weight of the bike has been reduced to 174 kg (384 lbs)

The Suzuki Recursion is equipped with a brake assist function with ABS and traction control. It has wave formed single brake discs front and rear.

The sportbike styling of the Recursion was not revolutionary but looks still attractive and modern. It has two vertical LED headlights, the instruments are a combination of analog (tachometer) and digital meters.
